NAEP Awarded Pipeline Construction Contracts

North American Energy Partners Inc. (NAEP) received three new contracts, including a five-year civil construction and mining deal with Suncor Energy and two large-diameter pipeline contracts.

Under a contract valued at $500 million, NAEP will supply reclamation, overburden removal and light and heavy civil construction services to Suncor’s oil sands mine operations near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The two pipeline contracts have a combined initial value of $92.5 million. NAEP will build 89 km of 36-inch and 42-inch pipeline in British Columbia and Alberta.

Two gas pipeline expansion projects will be built for Spectra Energy in the Chetwynd, BC area. The first involves 24.2 km of 36-inch pipeline expansion and the second a 19.5-km, 36-inch pipeline.

Under a separate contract, NAEP is building three natural gas pipeline expansions for TransCanada. These include a 24.2 km of 42-inch expansion in Dawson Creek, BC, a 16.4-km, 42-inch expansion in Grand Prairie, AB and a 3.5-km, 42-inch expansion in Hinton, AB.

Construction began in August with all segments scheduled to be substantially completed by March.
