What's New December 2021

Dekotec GmbH

Dekotec GmbH presents SEALID All-in-1, which radically simplifies the protection of pipes and weld seams. The idea of getting rid of the primer and the need for only one work step requires an extremely tough tape with special adhesive properties. SEALID is a new solution manufactured in a multilayer co-extrusion process. A single wrap is enough to fulfil the requirements of ISO 21809-3 at operating temperatures of up to 158 degrees F. The requirements of EN 12068 and DIN 30672 for Class C50 are also met with a single wrap. No primer – just one wrap for corrosion and mechanical protection.  www.sealid.de.

AIO

Amphenol Industrial Operations (AIO) offers a plastic universal power connector (UPC) series designed for heavy equipment and electric vehicles. The UPC 14 mm offers continuous power at 500A. Ideal for use in battery connection, power distribution units, electric motors, power converters/inverters, hybrid vehicles and battery management systems, as well as in heavy equipment electrification and starter generators, this two-pole connector includes EMI (electromagnetic interference) shielding, HVIL (high-voltage interlock loop) and a second lock function for high-voltage and current connections. The connector’s RADSOK twisted grid configuration allows for up to 50% more current to pass through the same size pin, while providing cycle durability and lower mating forces. www.amphenol.com

Sensor Networks

Sensor Networks Inc. (SNI) announced its third-generation, permanently installed monitoring system, the microPIMS Intrinsically Safe. This topology system leverages SNI’s experience in noninvasive corrosion/erosion monitoring with this network of ultrasonic sensors. Intrinsically safe, fully wireless and nonintrusive, it operates using long-range, sub-gigahertz LoRaWan wireless connectivity. Each microPIMS sensor can be programmed to take thickness readings at any user-defined time interval. Data are automatically sent to private webPIMS, cloud-based or on-premises LoRaWAN system + software back-end for analysis, trending and more. Units can be installed temporarily or permanently with either a band clamp or a magnetic base for tanks and vessels. Two-dimensional (2-D) batteries provide each unit with 15 years of life at one reading per day. www.sensornetworkscorp.com

Endress+Hauser

Endress+Hauser  offers the Prosonic Flow P 500 measuring system, a device that requires only minimal straight inlet runs and can be installed directly onto the exterior of the pipe, so there is no need to interrupt operations. In contrast to mechanical meters with high maintenance requirements, ultrasonic flowmeters have no moving parts. It can be mounted on a wide variety of pipeline types, including  steel or cast-iron and plastic. A special, maintenance-free contact foil (coupling pad) provides optimum sound transmission between the sensor surface and the pipe. Depending on the line size, fluid and pipe material, the sensors are delivered with different ultrasonic frequencies (0.3, 0.5, 1, 2 or 5 MHz) to provide maximum signal quality, and a high level of accuracy and repeatability. www.endress.com

Farwest

Farwest Corrosion Control introduced the Ref-Check VPR test instrument for voltage potential restoration (VPR). The device is an advancement in a product line of instruments for overcoming false- or low-potential readings from compromised cathodic protection reference electrodes (CPRE). The Ref-Check series of test instruments allows cathodic protection technicians to take accurate voltage potential or structure-to-soil readings despite conditions that would otherwise produce inaccurate readings, requiring the costly replacement of aging CPREs. www.farwestcorrosion.com

Weldcote

Weldcote’s Ultraview Plus helmet line now features an optical clarity classification of 1/1/1/1, along with an improved viewing area of 3.94 by 3.28 inches (12.93 square inches). The line features graphics in Emerald, Eagle and Nebula for personalization. Welding helmets have a 0.1- to 0.8-second switching time, a solar cell with battery backup and ultraviolet/infrared (UV/IR) protection. All Weldcote helmets have three-year warranties. The company also offers replacement headgear, programmable and standard lens cartridges, lithium batteries and interchangeable inside or outside lens covers. www.weldcotemetals.com

Honeywell

Honeywell released two Bluetooth-connected gas detectors that can deliver continuous monitoring for dangerous gases in fog, rain, snow and other inclement weather. The Searchline Excel Plus and Searchline Excel Edge allow the devices to stay online in weather conditions with worse visibility and at longer distances than before. The Excel Plus monitors feature short- and mid-range applications from 6 to 393 feet (2 to 120 meters), while the Excel Edge provides long-range perimeter or fence line monitoring from 196 to 1,083 feet (60 to 330 meters). www.sps.honeywell.com
