IDEC

IDEC Corporation released its HR5S safety relay module, which is designed to provide better safety options, while cutting costs and improving the productivity of machines and equipment. Safety relay modules, like the HR5S, are a key component for interlocking equipment and driving it to the safest possible state in case an emergency stop pushbutton or other safety input signal is activated. HR5S safety relays are available in three configurations for a range of applications. The simple type can be used for applications up to PLc, while standard and off-delay types work for designs up to PLd and add failure detection features. While most Category 3 and higher relays consume 1.8 inches (45 mm) of installation width, the HR5S is only 0.89-inch (22.5-mm) wide and can be mounted on DIN rails or a back panel surface. www.idec.com

Denso

Denso North America launched the Denso Bore-Wrap, an abrasion-resistant outer-wrap (ARO) that helps to withstand impact, gouge, abrasion and fracture. Bore-Wrap creates a sacrificial outer laminate layer that protects both pre-approved field joint coatings and mainline coatings (such as liquid epoxy coatings, three-layer polyethylene [3LPE], three-layer polypropylene [3LPP] and fusion-bonded epoxy [FBE] coatings) from damage during pipeline installations, in difficult terrain or by means of trenchless installation methods, such as directional drilling, horizontal direction drilling (HDD) or boring. The product is easily applied in the field because no mixing is required; it is simply wrapped over the existing pipeline coating and cured with water. www.densona.com

Trimble

Trimble introduced its TSC5 Controller, a new rugged-yet-lightweight field solution. The welder features a 5-inch (127-millimeter) screen, keypad and all-day battery for reliable field data collection. Its ergonomic design is lightweight, easy-to-grip and ideal for rugged environments. The TSC5 is resistant to shock, dust and water. A brightly lit, anti-glare screen and backlit alphanumeric keypad enable fast, efficient operation in tough conditions, even while wearing gloves. The controller’s battery provides all-day power on a single charge, with the optional external battery nearly doubling the power for extended use. Featuring an Android 10 operating system, the Trimble TSC5 is fully integrated with Trimble’s land and construction surveying instruments and software packages. www.trimble.com

NDT Global

NDT Global introduced Cracks in Dents Diagnosis, providing a probability of detection (POD) for interacting threats. The process can remove pipeline condition uncertainty with a systematic methodology that provides quantitative detection probabilities for interacting threats (cracks, grooves, gouges, stress risers and linear indications in dents). Using integrated data from ultrasonic deformation and high-resolution inspection robots, Cracks in Dents Diagnosis considers multiple attributes from a deformation’s geometry. Data analysts use information on dent type, depth and length ratio, while applying special crack analysis procedures for the dent area. As a result, each deformation has an individual probability of detecting an interacting threat. www.ndt-global.com

Endress+Hauser

Endress+Hauser launched iTEMP TMT142B, a smart temperature transmitter with Bluetooth. The transmitter delivers measurements in a robust single-chamber field housing and features a secure integrated Bluetooth interface that enables users to wirelessly visualize measured values and NAMUR NE 017 diagnostic information, and to perform configuration tasks. The device is easy and fast to operate, using your phone or tablet and the Endress+Hauser SmartBlue app. The newly developed backlit display provides excellent readability under all environmental conditions, including in the dark or in bright sunlight. The conversion of different sensor signals into a stable, standardized output signal (4 to 20 mA) represents a logistical challenge because it often requires multiple transmitter variations. www.us.endress.com

Caterpillar

The new Cat D7 dozer offers high-drive undercarriage design, increased performance and the broadest choice of easy-to-use technology features. A fully automatic, four-speed transmission offers optimal fuel and dozing efficiency. At 265 hp (197 kW) and an operating weight of 65,644 pounds (29,776 kg), the new D7 dozer replaces the D7E. The D7 moves up to 8% more material per hour than the D7E, with about 6% more weight and 12% more horsepower. Blade capacity is increased by 10%, and the elevated sprocket undercarriage delivers better ride and balance, as well as increased penetration force. The completely redesigned cab, common with the D5 and D6/D6 XE, offers more space, multiple seat and control adjustments for optimal comfort and a 10-inch (254-mm) touchscreen operator interface. www.cat.com
