DEKOTEC Marks 20-Year Anniversary
DEKOTEC GmbH is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year – nearly 100 years after its mother company laid the foundation for its success with the invention of Petrolatum-Tape, Schade’s plastic protective tape.
Since starting business in 2002, the Leverkusen, Germany-based company has developed numerous markets worldwide and completed around 2,500 orders.
Due to trade restrictions after World War I, German products could only be marketed by granting licenses to third parties in certain export countries, and a business partner registered rights to the trademark in the U.K. on behalf and in the name of the German company. After World War II, however, these trademark rights were then attributed to the local licensee, resulting in two companies that use the same trademark in the same industry, despite being completely independent of each other. As a result, the parent company of DEKOTEC GmbH was unable to sell its products under the same brand name in all countries of the world.
As the business grew internationally, it became important to resolve the issue around the legal rights to the trademark of the mother company. It accomplished this by founding DEKOTEC GmbH (the name is the abbreviation of the first two letters of the mother company and the German words for corrosion protection technology) covering all those markets where the founding company did not have the right to use initial trademark. It now delivers to 45 countries worldwide.
Corrosion Resistant Alloys, a just-in-time manufacturer of alloy tubulars, announced it has broken ground on the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Brenham, Texas, near Houston. The new facility will expand its manufacturing capabilities and streamline processes, it said.
Phase I of the new facility will house cold pilger mills, rotary and press straighteners, various computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machine tools, band saws and pipe inspection facilities on a 40+ acre campus.
AMECO, a construction and maintenance site services planning and management company, has opened its new 8,000-square-foot operations center on 6.5 acres in Prairieville, Louisiana, near Baton Rouge. The facility provides a geographic hub to increase support of capital construction, operations and maintenance, shutdown and turnaround and disaster relief efforts to owners and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors, AMECO said.
