Binding Open Season Launched for Mariner East Pipeline
Energy Transfer (ET) announced its Sunoco Pipeline subsidiary launched a binding open season to solicit shipper commitments for NGL transport through the expanding Mariner East pipeline system.
ET said the open season, which commenced Friday at 3 p.m. EST, will allow Sunoco Pipeline to take advantage of new opportunities to add additional product commitments to the pipeline, which is nearing completion.
Mariner East is a series of pipelines that has been constructed in phases to transport NGLs through interstate and intrastate routes. The system provides transportation service of C3+ from the Marcellus/Utica play in Pennsylvania to destination facilities in Claymont, Delaware and Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania.
The first phase of the project, referred to as Mariner East 1, commenced service in late 2014 for propane and in early 2016 for ethane.
Mariner East 2, the second phase of the project, is being constructed by Sunoco across Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. It will expand takeaway capacity on the system to 345,000 bpd for interstate and intrastate propane, ethane and butane service.
The 20-inch pipeline is scheduled to start service by the end of this year, and the 16-inch pipeline is scheduled for completion in 2019.
