(Reuters) – An oil pipeline explosion is thought to have killed one person and injured another on Thursday (December 5) in Nigeria's capital Lagos, a firefighting source told Reuters.

Huge plumes of black smoke could be seen rising in the residential area of Odo in Lagos.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was called to shut down supplies to the pipeline but there has been no official statement on the cause of the explosion.
