STATS Group Contender for P&GJ Award for Maintenance Technology

Pipeline & Gas Journal Awards judges recently narrowed down a significant number of nominations and announced finalists for its upcoming event Nov. 17.

The program honors the midstream’s leading innovations and outstanding personal contributions to the pipeline industry.

Among the finalists in the Best Advance in Maintenance Technology is STATS Group’s BISEP DS technology, which offers pipeline operators a solution for line stopping, incorporating an integrated bypass to maintain production during maintenance activities.

The solution provides a fail-safe double block and bleed isolation deployed through a single full bore hot tap intervention and offers significant safety advantages over traditional line stop technologies, with hydraulically activated dual seals providing leak-tight isolation of live pipelines at any pressure.

The high integrity isolation is provided by a spherical dual seal plug which is hydraulically deployed into the pipeline from a pressure competent launcher. The BISEP seals are hydraulically compressed resulting in radial expansion against the pipe bore.

During isolation barrier proving, each seal is tested independently with full pipeline pressure in the direction of the expected pressure differential, proving both seals of the double block isolation are leak-tight.

Pipeline owners and operators utilizing the BISEP benefit from increased operational safety and reduced time and costs during maintenance and repair activities.
