PetroChina is preparing to construct a 1,024-km natural gas pipeline project worth $US1.2 billion in Shandong Province.

The proposed pipeline is expected to be completed in 2010. PetroChina has already received approval to build a gas pipeline project costing $US75 million to connect two other cities in Shandong. That pipeline has an expected supply capacity of 445 MMcm/a.

Meanwhile, Sinopec has signed a contract to build a gas pipeline in Shandong valued at $US85 million. The project is anticipated to supply 50,000 cm/d. Shandong Province Deputy Director of Energy and Transportation Guo Xiaodong said the proposed pipelines total 3,000 km.
