NACE International Announces the Resignation of Tony Keane, Executive Director

NACE International, the Corrosion Society, announces the resignation of Tony Keane as executive director.

Over the last four years under Keane’s leadership, NACE membership has grown over 50 percent, with international membership increasing to over 6,000 members (30 percent of total membership), and the annual budget has risen to over $21 million. Keane will be leaving on January 8, 2010.

The Board of Directors recognizes that NACE has benefited greatly from Keane’s leadership and dedication. “I am disappointed to learn of Tony’s resignation,” said Mark Byerley, NACE President. “Under his leadership NACE has experienced dynamic growth and I know that he put NACE in a position to continue to succeed. I speak on behalf of the full Board in observing that the future of NACE is bright as a result of his having been here.”

Del Doyle, P.E., NACE Senior Director for Strategic Initiatives, will be the Interim Executive Director while the NACE Board of Directors conducts a global search for a permanent replacement. The Board Search Committee, chaired by Dr. Louis D. Vincent (Past President), is being organized in accordance with NACE policies and procedures, and the search will begin immediately.
