Western Australia Moves To Develop Gas Resources

Western Australia will allow a joint venture of Buru Energy and Mitsubishi to develop five gas resources in the Canning Basin.

The 25-year permits will allow the companies to focus on exploration of natural gas sourced from onshore Western Australia, with a view to connecting to the state’s domestic gas pipeline system. Some of the gas is for domestic consumption, the other for production of LNG. The project has an estimated cost of US$500 million.
