Pemex Awards Contracts For Los Ramones Pipeline

A consortium that includes Brazil’s Odebrecht was awarded a $935 million contract by Mexico’s oil giant PEMEX to construct a portion of the Phase 2 north section of the Los Ramones pipeline.

The 450-km section will run through the states of Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and San Luis Potosí and includes two pumping stations. The work will be carried out by AOT Pipelines, a consortium comprising Odebrecht, Mexico’s Arendal and Argentine firm Techint, Odebrecht.

Fluor Corporation’s ICA Fluor joint venture with Empresas ICA, S.A.B. de C.V. signed a contract with TAG Pipelines for construction of the project through the states of San Luis Potosí, Querétaro and Guanajuato. ICA Fluor will construct a 291-km, 42-inch section of the pipeline with one compression station (for a total capacity of 1,420 MMcf/d), in the southern portion of the Los Ramones Phase II gas transportation system.

The Los Ramones pipeline is part of the Natural Gas Transport System to supply central Mexico with gas from the U.S. It will stretch for more than 620 miles and have capacity to transport 2.1 Bcf/d. System completion is slated in 2016.
