Alliance Sensors Group introduced the SS-7 series linear variable inductive transducer (LVIT) designed for subsea environments. The transducer is designed to embed into a hydraulic cylinder and uses the gun-drilled piston rod as a target, sensing its position without the need for a magnet.

The SS-7 series can be submerged to a depth of 12,000 feet or installed in a pressure-balanced oil filled (PBOF) chamber to provide position feedback on blow out preventers, ROVs and relief valves.

The transducer features 316 stainless steel 25-mm diameter housing and can operates to 5,200 psi or 12,000 feet (3,000 meters) depth. SS-7 sensors use a simple coil design rather than “time-of-flight” technology or resistant film.

The SS-7 series, and its sister products ME-7, MR-7, and MHP-7, can withstand intense shock and vibration, and operating temperatures up to 105 degrees C with the extended range option.
