World Petroleum Congress Announces Presenting Sponsors

The 23rd World Petroleum Congress, which is coming to both Houston and the United States for the first time since 1987, unveiled its presenting sponsors on Oct. 2 during a breakfast event in the host city.  

From left: Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Linda Padon of Chevron, Cindy Yielding of BP, Uwem Ukpong of Baker Hughes, Gerbert Schoonman of Hess, Peggy Kostial of Accenture, Andrew Roberts of ConocoPhillips, Pinar Yilmaz of ExxonMobil, Galen Cobb of Halliburton and Jeff Shellebarger, chairman of the World Petroleum Congress Organizing Committee.

Those 10 companies are Chevron, Halliburton, Accenture, Hess Corporation, ExxonMobil, BP, Qatar Petroleum, Baker Hughes, Saudi Aramco and ConocoPhillips.  

“The global perspectives and wealth of experience of this impressive group of industry leaders will help the WPC Organizing Committee to create an environment that encourages discussions on the challenges and opportunities of the oil and gas industry from varying viewpoints,” said Jeff Shellebarger, chairman, WPC Organizing Committee.   

The event, which takes place Dec. 6-20, 2020, is held every three years and will feature about 700 presenters, 16 CEO roundtables and 23 technical forums, the organizers said.   

“As the energy capital of the world, the city of Houston is honored to host the 23rd World Petroleum Congress, said Mayor Sylvester Turner.  “We have a global profile that makes us uniquely qualified to host the event.”   

This announcement marks a milestone for the WPC Organizing Committee as it signifies the commitment of these leading companies to host the 23rd World Petroleum Congress and sets the stage for collaboration as preparations progress.
