Antero Names Michael Kennedy CEO; Announces Broader Leadership Changes

Antero Resources and Antero Midstream named Michael Kennedy as CEO and president, succeeding Paul Rady, who transitions to chairman emeritus. The leadership changes also include new board chairs and CFO appointments.

(P&GJ) — Antero Resources Corp. and Antero Midstream Corp. announced that Michael N. Kennedy has been appointed chief executive officer, president, and board member of both companies, effective immediately. His promotion follows the transition of longtime leader Paul M. Rady, who will step down from his executive roles and serve as chairman emeritus.

Kennedy joined Antero in 2013 and most recently served as chief financial officer of Antero Resources, a position he held since 2021. He also served as CFO of Antero Midstream from 2016 to 2021. Before joining the company, he spent more than a decade at Forest Oil Corp., including four years as CFO, and began his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen.

“Mike Kennedy is an inspirational leader with extensive oil and gas industry and financial experience,” said Benjamin A. Hardesty, lead independent director of Antero Resources. “Mike was the obvious choice to succeed Paul, and I can think of nobody better to lead Antero Resources into its next phase.”

David H. Keyte, lead independent director of Antero Midstream, added: “With Mike at the helm, I believe Antero Midstream is poised to build on its past successes and continue as an industry leader.”

Kennedy said he was “honored” to step into the roles and praised Rady’s leadership. “I am excited for the opportunity to build upon Paul’s legacy and lead the fantastic teams at Antero Resources and Antero Midstream,” Kennedy said.

As part of the leadership transition, Antero Resources and Antero Midstream will separate the roles of chairman and CEO. Hardesty will become chairman of Antero Resources, and Keyte will chair Antero Midstream. Additional board and management appointments include:

  • Yvette K. Schultz, general counsel of Antero, joining Antero Midstream’s board.
  • Brendan E. Krueger promoted to CFO of Antero Resources.
  • Justin J. Agnew named CFO of Antero Midstream.

Antero Resources operates natural gas and NGL assets in the Appalachian Basin, while Antero Midstream owns and develops midstream and water infrastructure supporting Antero’s operations.
