EIG Buys Nearly 50% Stake in Peru’s Main Gas Pipeline Operator

EIG has acquired a 49.87% stake in Transportadora de Gas del Perú, securing a major ownership position in the country’s core natural gas pipeline system that supplies a large share of Peru’s power generation.

(P&GJ) — EIG has acquired a 49.87% equity stake in Transportadora de Gas del Perú (TgP) from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the companies said.

TgP operates Peru’s primary natural gas and natural gas liquids pipeline systems under a long-term concession and supplies roughly 40% of the country’s power generation, according to the company.

The investment gives EIG a significant ownership position in one of South America’s most critical gas transportation networks, which plays a central role in Peru’s power and industrial fuel supply.

“We are delighted to complete this transaction and embark on the next chapter of our partnership with TgP,” said Matt Hartman, EIG’s Global Head of Infrastructure. “Our priority is to support TgP’s operational excellence and long-term stability, delivering value for customers and stakeholders throughout Peru.”

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
