McDermott Completes Offshore Pipeline Work for Sarawak Shell

McDermott has safely wrapped up subsea pipeline installation and heavy-lift work for Sarawak Shell’s FaS development offshore Malaysia, marking more than one million safe work hours and reinforcing its role in Asia’s offshore infrastructure build-out.

McDermott said it has safely completed the offshore pipelay and heavy-lift scope for Sarawak Shell Berhad’s FaS development, delivering subsea infrastructure across the F22, F27 and Selasih fields offshore East Malaysia.

The project, awarded in 2023, included transportation and installation of two pipeline segments, flexible pipelay, pre-commissioning of all infield pipelines, and structural installation of three jackets and topsides.

McDermott deployed its DLV2000 vessel for the campaign, underscoring the vessel’s ongoing role in Asia-Pacific offshore construction. The company reported more than one million safe work hours on the project.

“This project demonstrates the strength of our long-standing relationship with Shell and our ability to deliver complex projects safely and efficiently,” said Mahesh Swaminathan, McDermott senior vice president for subsea and floating facilities. He added that the company’s Kuala Lumpur office continues to play a leading role in complex offshore work across the region.

The completed FaS infrastructure supports ongoing development of Sarawak’s offshore resources and further solidifies McDermott’s presence in Malaysia’s offshore pipeline and heavy-lift market.
