EnerMech Wins Pipeline Work for Shell’s Manatee Gas Development in Trinidad and Tobago
EnerMech has secured a pipeline pre-commissioning contract from McDermott for Shell’s Manatee gas project offshore Trinidad and Tobago. The 115-km, 32-inch pipeline will support gas production of 604 MMscf/d by 2027, with EnerMech delivering nitrogen testing and dewatering services.
EnerMech has been awarded a pipeline pre-commissioning contract by McDermott in support of Shell Trinidad and Tobago’s Manatee gas development, one of the country’s most significant offshore energy projects now moving toward production start-up in 2027.
The award covers pre-commissioning services across a 115-km, 32-inch subsea pipeline, which will transport natural gas from the offshore Manatee field. Once operational, the project is expected to deliver peak output of 104,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), or 604 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of gas.
EnerMech will deploy a mix of local and international project management teams to oversee the campaign, providing continuity and leveraging more than 12 years of operational experience in Trinidad and Tobago. The company’s scope includes nitrogen testing, high-pressure dewatering, and pipeline drying — all core elements of its pre-commissioning service offering.
Charles “Chuck” Davison Jr., CEO of EnerMech, said the contract underscores the company’s expanding presence in the Americas and the strength of its technical partnership with Shell and McDermott.
“This award reinforces our position as a trusted partner for complex pre-commissioning scopes,” Davison said. “It reflects the confidence our clients have in our ability to execute safely and efficiently on large-scale gas infrastructure.”
Frazer Thomson, Senior Vice President of Energy Solutions, said the company’s in-country expertise was key to securing the project.
“Our team has supported every major EnerMech campaign in Trinidad and Tobago since 2013,” Thomson said. “We bring proven experience, specialized equipment, and a strong safety culture to deliver world-class pre-commissioning performance.”
The Manatee field, located in the eastern offshore block adjacent to the Venezuela maritime border, is expected to play a key role in Trinidad and Tobago’s gas supply diversification strategy. EnerMech’s participation in the development reinforces its growing role in Caribbean and Latin American pipeline infrastructure projects.
