Global X Launches Fund Targeting Investment in U.S. LNG Export Infrastructure
Global X has launched the U.S. Natural Gas ETF (LNGX) to provide investors with exposure to America’s expanding gas value chain, from production and pipelines to liquefaction and exports, as U.S. LNG capacity and global demand continue to rise.
(P&GJ) — Global X Management Company LLC, a leading provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), has launched the Global X U.S. Natural Gas ETF (LNGX), a fund designed to give investors targeted exposure to the U.S. natural gas value chain — from production to midstream transport, storage, processing, and LNG export infrastructure.
The passively managed ETF tracks the Global X U.S. Natural Gas Index and carries an expense ratio of 0.45%. According to the company, LNGX is positioned to capture growth in U.S. natural gas activity driven by rising liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, as the U.S. strengthens its role as the world’s largest LNG supplier.
Pedro Palandrani, Head of Product Research & Development at Global X, said the fund addresses growing investor interest in natural gas infrastructure and production exposure.
“We saw an opportunity to offer a pure-play vehicle focused on the full natural gas value chain — a segment of the U.S. oil and gas industry that’s expanding rapidly in the LNG export era,” Palandrani said.
The U.S. now accounts for roughly one-quarter of global gas production and a major share of LNG export capacity. Global X said the ETF reflects confidence that long-term trade dynamics and policy trends will continue to support demand for U.S. LNG exports, particularly in Europe and Asia.
Scott Helfstein, Head of Investment Strategy at Global X, added that natural gas remains central to meeting baseload power demand, including supply for data centers and industrial users, while complementing renewable generation sources.
“We believe natural gas is a critical bridge fuel, and U.S. LNG exports are reshaping global energy markets,” Helfstein said.
By offering diversified exposure to exploration and production, pipeline operators, storage providers, and liquefaction developers, LNGX provides investors a single platform to participate in the continuing expansion of U.S. gas infrastructure and exports.
