Libya’s Waha Oil Restores Zaggut–Sidra Pipeline Operations After Leak Repair

Libya’s Waha Oil Company has resumed crude flows through the Zaggut–Sidra pipeline after repairing a leak that caused a brief shutdown. The line transports oil from Waha-operated fields to the Es Sider export terminal, with production now restored to normal levels.

(Reuters) — Libya's Waha Oil Company, a subsidiary of state-run National Oil Corporation, has repaired a leak in the Zaggut-Sidra oil pipeline after a brief shutdown, it said on Oct. 5.

The pipeline was shut down after the company detected the leak on Oct. 3, it said on Facebook.

It said on Oct. 5 that the pipeline, which transports oil from fields operated by the company to Es Sider port, returned to normal operation after maintenance.

Libya is one of Africa's biggest oil producers, but output has been disrupted repeatedly since 2014, when the country split between rival authorities in the east and west after the NATO-backed uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi.

In September, Waha Oil Company said its production of crude reached 365,000 barrels per day.
