IPLOCA Committees Spotlight Safety, Innovation, and Talent at Izmir Convention

At the 57th Annual IPLOCA Convention in Izmir, Türkiye, four committee chairs outlined how the association is advancing safety, innovation, and sustainability in the pipeline industry.

(P&GJ) — At the 57th Annual IPLOCA Convention in Izmir, Türkiye, four committee chairs outlined how the association is advancing safety, innovation, and sustainability in the pipeline industry.

Safety and CSR. Giovanni Muriana (MAX STREICHER S.p.A., Italy) emphasized the importance of data-driven safety practices, with IPLOCA collecting and sharing performance statistics to reduce accidents. Workshops and digital platforms are helping members align with ESG and European directives while promoting transparency.

Innovation. Dr. Somaieh Salehpour (Seal For Life, The Netherlands) described how the Innovation Committee is driving adoption of new technologies through the Novel Construction Initiative and the launch of Nest, a digital hub where members share solutions, best practices, and R&D insights.

NextGen Network. Saji Khoury (Consolidated Contractors Company, Greece) highlighted efforts to attract and engage young professionals. With more than 50 members worldwide, the group runs online sessions, mentoring programs, and industry events to strengthen connections and create clearer career pathways.

Energy Transition. Andrew Ball (J. Murphy & Sons Limited, U.K.) pointed to live hydrogen blending trials in the UK as an example of cutting-edge research. His committee curates global policy and technology updates, making them accessible to members navigating the fast-changing energy transition landscape.

Together, the committees are helping IPLOCA members deliver safer, cleaner, and more sustainable energy infrastructure worldwide.
