New Era JV Taps Mawgan Capital to Power West Texas AI Data Center with Low-Carbon Gas
New Era Energy & Digital’s joint venture TCDC has signed an LOI with Mawgan Capital to power its planned AI data center campus in Ector County, Texas. The project will use low-carbon natural gas under the Digital Zero Power platform, with construction set to begin later this year.
(P&GJ) — New Era Energy & Digital, Inc., formerly New Era Helium, said its joint venture Texas Critical Data Centers LLC (TCDC) has signed a letter of intent with Mawgan Capital to provide power for a planned AI data center campus in Ector County, Texas.
Under the LOI, Mawgan Capital would finance and deliver a natural gas–based behind-the-meter generation system using its proprietary Digital Zero Power platform. The system incorporates low-carbon gas certificates, carbon credits, and Context Labs’ AI-enabled carbon management technology to verify the carbon profile of operations.
Construction and integration of the system are expected to begin later this year, with full commissioning targeted within 18 months. Once online, the facility will serve as the energy backbone for TCDC’s AI-optimized compute campus, aiming to combine power reliability with reduced emissions.
“The partnership with Mawgan Capital allows us to deliver verified, low zero-carbon power to our on-site customers supporting their sustainability goals while providing world-class power reliability in West Texas,” said E. Will Gray II, CEO of New Era Energy & Digital.
Wolf Schubert, CEO of Sharon AI, added the collaboration could position TCDC as a leader in sustainable digital infrastructure. Mawgan Capital CEO David Tucker said the DZP model seeks to create jobs while cutting environmental impact.
