Tenaris Wins Contracts for Black Sea Gas Pipelines Offshore Turkey
Tenaris has secured new contracts to supply pipe for ultra-deepwater gas pipelines in the Black Sea offshore Turkey, supporting the next phase of the Sakarya Gas Project.
(P&GJ) — Tenaris has been awarded two pipeline supply contracts by Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı for Phase 3 of the Sakarya Gas Project, expanding its role in the ultra-deepwater development offshore Turkey in the Black Sea.
The Phase 3 scope includes the supply of seamless and welded pipe for flowlines, risers and export infrastructure in water depths of about 2,150 meters (about 7,050 feet), roughly 170 km (about 105 miles) offshore Turkey.
Tenaris will supply 22,700 tons of seamless pipe for flowlines and a 62-km (about 39-mile) monoethylene glycol (MEG) pipeline, along with 87,800 tons of welded pipe for a 180-km (about 112-mile) gas export pipeline. An additional 7,700 tons of pipe will be used for production risers, MEG risers and export pipeline sections.
The seamless pipe will be produced at Tenaris’s Dalmine mill in Italy and coated at its Villamarzana facility, while the welded pipe will be manufactured at the company’s Confab mill in Brazil. A 1.2-km (about 0.75-mile) section of the export line will include concrete weight coating to improve stability on the seabed.
Both contracts will be executed under Tenaris’s One Line® service model, which integrates pipe manufacturing with coating and related pipeline services.
“Tenaris’s One Line® model is a comprehensive portfolio of flexible service offerings that fast-track dynamic and technically complex projects to deliver reliable solutions that our customers rely on,” said Davide Mengoli, Tenaris Commercial Senior Director, Pipelines & Services for the Mediterranean, Caspian, Middle East & Asia.
Beyond the pipeline work, Tenaris will also supply 10,000 tons of offshore drilling casing, part of which will be coated with Dopeless® technology.
“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with the TPAO on their most technically demanding offshore project to date,” said Olga Volkova, Tenaris Commercial Senior Director for Eastern Europe and the Caspian Sea. “Tenaris’s offshore solutions, used in projects like the Sakarya Gas Project, enhance efficiency and safety by providing run-ready pipes without entering the rig floor red zone.”
