Balticconnector Still on Course for April Repair, Gasgrid Says

(Reuters) — Finnish gas grid operator Gasgrid on Thursday said commissioning of the Balticconnector gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia was still technically possible in April of 2024, provided that ongoing design and repair work was successful.

The Balticconnector gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia and several telecoms cables in the Baltic Sea were damaged in early October, and Finnish police are investigating whether this was caused by an accident or a deliberate act.

The operator has since said it aimed to repair the pipeline by April.

"Preparations for the repair of the Balticconnector offshore pipeline have so far progressed according to plan," Gasgrid said in a statement.
