Vantage Data Centers to Build $25 Billion AI Campus in Texas

Vantage Data Centers will invest $25 billion to build its largest campus in Texas, a 1.4GW “Frontier” development aimed at supporting AI infrastructure. The project will create thousands of jobs and deliver advanced sustainable design features.

(P&GJ) — Vantage Data Centers has announced plans to build its largest project to date, a $25 billion hyperscale campus in Shackelford County, Texas, designed to meet surging demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Vantage Data Centers’ Frontier campus in Texas boasts 1.4GW of capacity to meet AI demand.

Called “Frontier,” the 1,200-acre site will feature 10 data centers totaling 3.7 million square feet with 1.4 gigawatts of capacity. The development is expected to employ more than 5,000 workers during construction and operations.

Construction has already begun, with the first building slated for completion in the second half of 2026. The site will use liquid cooling systems to support high-density GPU loads of 250kW+ and incorporate Vantage’s sustainable design standards, including a closed-loop chiller system aimed at saving billions of gallons of water annually.

“Texas has become a critical and strategic market for AI providers,” said Dana Adams, president of North America at Vantage Data Centers. “In particular, the launch of our Frontier campus with 1.4GW of GPU compute capacity marks a watershed moment for Vantage as we deliver on our promise to meet the unprecedented requirements of our customers.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott called the project “a national and global leader in this emerging frontier,” adding that the development would generate thousands of jobs and new revenue for the state.

Shackelford County Judge John Viertel said the project would bring long-term benefits to the community through educational programs, scholarships, and local partnerships.

Vantage said the campus will pursue LEED certification and will include contributions to local charities and annual scholarships for Shackelford County students.
