Green Plains Begins Carbon Capture at York Facility, Links to Trailblazer Pipeline
Green Plains has launched carbon capture operations at its York, Nebraska biofuel facility, sending CO₂ through the Trailblazer pipeline for permanent storage as part of its expanding low-carbon strategy.
(P&GJ) — Green Plains Inc. has started operations of its carbon capture and storage (CCS) system at its York, Nebraska facility, marking a key milestone in the company’s broader carbon strategy.
The newly operational CCS equipment is now delivering biogenic carbon dioxide to Tallgrass’ Trailblazer pipeline for permanent sequestration. Additional systems at Green Plains’ Central City and Wood River plants are expected to come online later this year.

“Bringing carbon capture online at York reflects the continued progress we’re making in executing our carbon strategy,” said Chris Osowski, Chief Executive Officer of Green Plains. “It’s the result of strong planning, disciplined execution, and a team-wide focus on optimizing every part of the platform to create long-term value.”
The company said its low-carbon intensity biofuel production will generate carbon credits across multiple facilities in 2025, reinforcing its focus on long-term growth and operational efficiency.
