Ares Acquires Stake in 700-Mile Rover Gas Pipeline from Blackstone

Ares Management has acquired a 32.4% stake in the 700-mile Rover pipeline, expanding its exposure to U.S. natural gas infrastructure serving key demand centers.

(P&GJ) — Ares Management has acquired a 32.4% stake in the Rover natural gas pipeline from Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, expanding its position in U.S. midstream infrastructure.

Rover is a 700-mile interstate pipeline system that transports natural gas from the Appalachian Basin to key markets across the Midwest and Gulf Coast, with a capacity of about 3.4 billion cubic feet per day. The system is operated by an affiliate of Energy Transfer.

The pipeline provides critical takeaway capacity from one of the largest gas-producing regions in the United States and is supported by long-term transportation agreements.

Ares said the investment aligns with growing demand for U.S. natural gas, driven by LNG exports, rising power consumption and increased industrial activity.

Anthony Omokha, a managing director at Ares, said large-scale pipeline systems remain central to connecting supply with expanding demand centers across North America.

Blackstone, which invested in Rover during its development, said the pipeline continues to play a key role in delivering gas to Midwestern markets and supporting broader demand growth tied to electrification and LNG.

The transaction adds to Ares’ portfolio of energy infrastructure assets and underscores continued investor interest in pipeline systems tied to long-haul gas transport and export demand.
