LNG Deals, Pipeline Projects Expand Energy Links in Central, Eastern Europe
New agreements and infrastructure initiatives aim to boost LNG import capacity, enhance regional gas interconnections and strengthen energy security across Central and Eastern Europe.
(P&GJ) — The United States announced new agreements aimed at expanding LNG exports and natural gas infrastructure across Central and Eastern Europe during the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Croatia.
The deals include support for pipeline development and regional gas interconnections designed to increase capacity for importing U.S. LNG into Europe.
Among the projects is the Southern Interconnection pipeline linking Bosnia and Herzegovina with Croatia, which would provide additional access to LNG supplies and diversify regional gas sources.
U.S. officials said the agreements are intended to strengthen energy security by increasing infrastructure connectivity and reducing reliance on single supply routes.
The initiative also includes broader cooperation with regional partners on energy development, alongside investments tied to growing demand for gas and power.
Officials said the U.S. expects LNG exports to continue expanding in the coming years, supported by additional infrastructure and rising global demand.
